Today, Ski Adventure Canada (SAC) is a custom vacation operator, providing holidays for families, couples, singles and groups wanting a quality experience with a higher level of service. Heather began taking ski tours from Australia to North America in 1986. As the most requested ski instructor at Australia's premier ski resort, Perisher Blue (then know as Perisher), Heather began the tours to provide guests, from her private lesson clientele, the opportunity to further enhance their skiing vacation experience.
In the early years the tours were more typical of a group tour and focused exclusively on the hallmark resorts of the USA and Canada. Resorts such; as Aspen, Vail, Whistler/Blackcomb, the Banff area resorts of Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and also Nakiska (site of the 1988 Winter Olympics).
Ever looking for a new experience, Heather found herself on a road trip through Western Canada with fellow skiers from Banff. While driving through a picturesque lake district called the Okanagan Valley, known for its wine growing, they pulled into the little know resort of Silver Star Mountain.
Night skiing, on her first night in the resort, Heather saw something that was to set in motion the course of travel for several years to come. Under a Canadian night's sky with the sun still setting on the horizon, a rising Harvest Moon reflected the sun's most spectacular yellows and oranges imaginable. The scene took her breath away...
Those early years saw Silver Star as a small resort with a locals feel about it. Although there have been a number of improvements and some development, Silver Star continues to have a small resort look and feel but now provides a big mountain skiing experience. This intimate feel is one that we find is beautifully suited to families with younger children and the ski in/out access make this a great resort for quieter holidays, without the hustle and bustle of the busier resorts.
Today sees Heather Robilliard's Ski Adventures having little resemblance to those earlier days. Each year hundreds of guests ski adventure Canada and the USA with us. With our own team of on-snow professionals and guest services staff we are able to assure each guests' holiday is first rate.
After several years of operations based at Silver Star, Heather is now including a variety of resorts across western Canada and Western USA into the winter vacation schedule. Her professional reputation enables her to secure premier bookings at even the largest resorts and each winter's vacation schedule is designed directly by her.
It is not just the number of resorts visited that has increased, guests now hail from far and wide including; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the USA, Mexico, and Papua New Guinea. The length of holiday enjoyed by our guests varies from five days to a full week, with two weeks being the most popular duration and some guests vacation with us for up to eight (8) weeks.
